The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director.
This film tells the story of the first encounter between Viking settlers and Proto-Beothuks, the ancestors of one of Canada's First Nations. Told from the perspective of women, this fictionalized story foreshadows the tragic outcomes of the subsequent relations between the new settlers and Indigenous peoples in Canada. This animation authentically incorporates the visual motifs of both cultures in a style that combines pencil and watercolor.
